Bohemia wins Vodafone strategy account from Ikon

Bohemia founders Chris Christofi, Brett Dawson and Peter Leaver

Nine-month old data-meets-media agency Bohemia has won the media strategy and planning account of Vodafone – taking the business from Ikon.

Bohemia was launched by former Ikon stalwarts Brett Dawson and Chris Christofi in October last year, and Vodafone will be the agency’s largest client.

Ikon hangs on to the media buying part of the business. Ikon is wholly owned by STW Group, which has a minority stake in Bohemia.

Bohemia’s remit includes strategy, data, analytics, planning, sponsorship and social media. The agency will work alongside Ogilvy, which won the creative account from Host in Febuary, brand agency Moon as well as Ikon.

Brett Dawson, who worked at Ikon for a decade and was one of the agency’s founding staffers, said in a press release: “We are incredibly excited by the opportunity to provide strategic consultancy services to Vodafone in Australia and we look forward to a long term, successful relationship with them and their partner agencies.”

Ikon boss Dan Johns was unavailable for comment.

Jana Kotatko, general manager brand, communications and PR at Vodafone said: “Bohemia’s highly strategic approach to media planning is well suited to our need to improve the effectiveness of our marketing communications. We look forward to working with Brett and his team to take full
advantage of the opportunities presented by the new media landscape.”
