Box Office: Deadpool & Wolverine make it a month at the top

Deadpool & Wolverine has just managed to hold off It Ends With Us to take the top spot at the National Box Office for a fourth weekend in a row.

The film’s $4.57 million brings its Australian box office to $54.7 million. Blake Lively’s It Ends With Us brought in $4.51 million in its second week, while Alien: Romulus took $3.43 million to take third place – a lucklustre showing considering in the US, the sci-fi managed to knock Deadpool & Wolverine from the top of the box office.

The 15th anniversary re-release of the stop motion hit Coraline took in $838,000 to be the weekend’s fourth-highest film – pretty impressive given it is only screening at HOYTS and a handful of indies. Hindi film Stree 2 took $694,000 in its first weekend to come in fifth.

A pair of animations kept going strong in their third month at the cinema. Inside Out 2 took another $418,000 in its tenth week to bring its total box office to $54.4 million, while Despicable Me 4 added a further $387,00 to its $42 million total box office after nine weeks.

M. Night Shyamalan’s Trap took $300,000 in its third week, bringing its box office to just $2.2 million, while Twisters took $294,000 to bring its total past $12 million, and Borderland brought in $198,000 to nudge its takings to $854,000 to date.
