Cake Wines encourage music fans to attend gigs earlier and support the support act
Boutique independent Cake Wines is encouraging music enthusiasts to support the support act at gigs with a new campaign which will see those punters arriving earlier for gigs rewarded with a glass of Cake Wine.
The ‘Support the Support’ campaign is aimed at encouraging people to head to gigs earlier on in the night as opposed to not turning up at venues until the headline act is performing.
Cake Wines co-founder Glen Cassidy said: “We wanted to do something that helps our venues and the broader music community. By heading to gigs earlier and checking out the support act, no matter what happens…everyone wins; the artist plays to a crowd, it supports the venues that showcase live music, the more people in the venue the better the atmosphere, and maybe, just maybe, that little support band no one’s heard of yet, could well be the next Radiohead or James Blake or Fugazi or Arcade Fire…and you saw them first.”
Promoted mainly across social media and digital, its also being promoted on independent radio stations and in the venues involved.
The campaign will see around 50 support act digital posters designed for acts performing at the participating venues each week which the artists can than share across social media.
To receive the complimentary glass of wine, punters are prompted to take a photo of the act on stage, post it to their Instagram tagging #cakewines and show bar staff when ordering.
As the campaign continues, Cake Wines will release videos of artists, label owners and studio engineers talking about the time when they saw a support act before they went on to be world famous.
