Canon Australia is sponsoring the Bingham Cup Sydney 2014, the biennial international gay rugby tournament. Canon will supply photographers, equipment and training to a team of “Bingham Cup Ambassadors” to help them capture every moment of the event.
Canon Australia has signed on as a major partner of Bingham Cup Sydney 2014 and will play a central role in helping to publicise the event and Australia to the world. The biennial international gay rugby tournament which will run from 24-31 August, will attract up to 2000 players and supports to Sydney along with international media. Canon will supply photographers, equipment and training to a team of “Bingham Cup Ambassadors” to help them capture every moment of the historic event. It’s the first time the ‘world cup of gay rugby’ has been held in the southern hemisphere.
Canon’s sponsorship, facilitated by Pink Media Group, has already seen major benefits, with the company helping to capture images, used by international media, of the recent announcement by Australia’s sports to ‘eliminate’ homophobia.
A spokes person from Canon said, “Canon is excited to be supporting an event that reflects our inclusive corporate culture and the diversity of the people that use our products. We also believe that the lens of a camera can do more than just capture the world; it can help change perspectives through powerful visual storytelling, and the Bingham Cup in Sydney will be a wonderful occasion for the lenses of Australia.”
Andrew Purchas, President of Bingham Cup Sydney 2014 said, “We are thrilled to have Canon Australia on board as a Major Partner. With their support, we are aiming to not only share some unique views of what Sydney has to offer to our international visitors, but also capture and share some amazing memories of the Bingham Cup for all the participants and its supporters. Canon’s approach to create a unique experience where people could interact with the brand is something that really resonated with us.”
Canon joins other high profile partners including Commonwealth Bank, Destination NSW and EY.
