Carat Melbourne fills group strategy director role after Bethanie Blanchard departure

Carat Australia has appointed David Dalgarno to head up Carat’s strategy offering in Melbourne after Bethanie Blanchard departed the role to join Coles Media as its national planning and strategy lead, Mumbrella can reveal.

As group strategy director for Carat Melbourne, Dalgarno will join the dentsu media agency’s 13 people strong national strategic function, reporting in to Carat Australia chief strategy officer Danni Wright.

With more than 20 years’ experience in the industry, Dalgarno has held strategic roles within research, media and creative, having most recently spent two years as strategic planning director at indie creative agency, Mustard in Melbourne. Prior to Mustard, Dalgarno was group strategy director at OMD Sydney.

The new role will make Dalgarno the latest addition to Carat Melbourne’s senior leadership team, playing a critical role in inspiring the agency’s people on the potential of media to make a difference to the clients’ businesses. He will work closely with Wright to drive the strategic product, with a focus on ensuring the strategic direction makes a difference to media plan and business outcomes.

Dalgarno will also be instrumental in driving Carat’s culture of ‘designing for people’, by crafting media, teams and careers, to build experiences that last.

“David is going to be a brilliant complement to our team; his experience will provide perspective on how we can continue to enhance how we work and the value our thinking provides to our clients. His passion for people development will also help us continue to foster our talent across the business. We can’t wait to welcome him to the team,” said Wright.
