Carsales appoints Val Morgan Digital’s Ben Tyers as new head of content
Carsales has appointed a new head of content to lead a new era of consumer-first content strategy.
Ben Tyers steps into the role after four years with Val Morgan Digital, aiming to bring a new strategy to broaden carsales’ reach to new consumers and diverse audience needs.
He brings a wealth of experience across content strategy, production, and audience engagement to the position, from media outlets and brands including Urban List, POPSUGAR, Buzzfeed, Crust Pizza, and Telstra.
Most recently, he spent four years at Val Morgan Digital. In 2020, the publishing group hired him to lead Thrillist Australia, and after two years, he moved to a head of audience development role. Then, at the start of 2024, he became head of content and audience.

Rafael Constantinou and Ben Tyers
“I’m honoured to join carsales at such a pivotal time in its journey,” Tyers said.
“Carsales has been an iconic Australian brand and leader in the automotive space for decades, and I’m excited to help shape a bold new direction for its content.
“Leveraging carsales’ extensive data and insights, we’ll carry on innovating with dynamic and creative content to meet the evolving behaviours of our consumers and strengthen our reach and engagement across all platforms.”
Rafael Constantinou, executive general manager of marketing, content & customer at carsales, added: “Content has always been at the heart of our business, guiding consumers through their buying and selling experiences and beyond.
“While traditional content like reviews and comparisons remain essential, we’re entering an exciting new phase, where we aim to make our content even more consumer-focused and widely accessible. With Ben’s extensive experience, we’re confident he will lead us into this new era, crafting content that connects with everyday Australians.
“This is the start of something truly transformative for our content strategy,” he added.
Tyers will lead the new content strategy for carsales along with its marketplace brands, including bikesales, boatsales, caravancampingsales, trucksales, farmmachinerysales, and construction sales.
Under his leadership, carsales hopes to deliver a broader and more accessible range of video formats and content, while maintaining value.
