Case study: how Bespoke promoted a creative agency’s unique expertise
Five by Five wanted to advertise its specialist knowledge in launch marketing – without giving the sales pitch. So, they worked with Mumbrella on a feature explaining the inside story of the best campaigns of 2017.
Five by Five is a British and American creative agency that recently opened a new office in Sydney. The business wanted to promote its services and also position itself as experts on its specialism: launch marketing.
Mumbrella’s insight
Mumbrella is the most popular news site for Australia’s media and marketing industry by a huge margin. We’re currently averaging 850k monthly page views and 14k daily browsers – three times higher than our nearest audited rival.
What we did
Mumbrella wrote a 2,500 long-form feature that interviewed the creatives and marketers behind the five best launch marketing campaigns of 2017, as picked by both Bespoke and Five by Five.
This included a stunt by Sydney Dogs & Cats Home and Airtasker to let one lucky person look after a litter of puppies for the day; the Australian tourist board’s Facebook show to encourage young people to visit the country; and Subaru’s collaboration with vehicle-sharing service DriveMyCar. We interviewed MDs, creative directors and marketing leads rather than simply printing PR statements.
Five By Five’s managing director Matt Lawton popped up to give his analysis throughout – something that made sense editorially as he is legitimately the industry expert on this topic.
The story allowed us to create a narrative that Five by Five was the go-to agency for launch marketing without explicitly saying this. We showed, rather than told, our message.
How it performed
The story became one of the most popular of the week. In total, it attracted a huge 5,420 page views with an average time on page of 3:28 minutes. It was also shared 516 times on LinkedIn and Facebook. The story was so successful that we were commissioned to do the same thing again the next year. The new feature is already on course to be even more popular than the first, with 3,873 views already clocked up.
