Catch of the day: Match & Wood lands online retailer

The Catch.com.au media pitch has concluded with incumbent Hearts & Science replaced by independent Match & Wood.

Mumbrella reported that the account had gone to pitch last month, with Hearts & Science looking to retain its business.

Catch, part of Wesfarmers, is the latest big win for the independent media agency, who also recently picked up the $20 million Snooze account, as well as a smaller win with residential property developer, Peet.

Lyndelle O’Keefe, CEO Match & Wood said: “Catch.com.au have a clear vision; they are long-term thinkers who deeply understand the future of ecommerce. We share this passion and feel a strong cultural fit between our teams. We are all extremely excited to be partnering with Catch.com.au on this journey – I know we will deliver great work together”.

The Catch.com.au account will be housed from the Match & Wood Melbourne office, led by general manager Daniel Bradley, who joined the agency from his former role as former CHEP Network national head of investment in May.

Bradley said the team were excited at the “prospect” of working with Catch.com.au from the start, noting the online retailer’s “unique and innovative” approach to the pitch process.

“The team have a focus on transparency, continuous improvement and innovation which we are able to uniquely deliver with our tools Campfire and Wildfire,” he said.

Mumbrella contacted Hearts & Science but the agency declined to comment.

The new media appointment comes after Catch appointed creative agency, Sunday Gravy in late-2022, after initially taking its creative services in-house, following the termination of its relationship with AJF Partnership.

It then launched a new brand campaign with Sunday Gravy in September.

The account loss comes at a difficult time for Hearts & Science, with the agency also currently looking to defend its Victoria University and Forty Winks accounts, which are also out to pitch.

Recently, the agency shook up its leadership team, with Darren Stein returning to the agency as national managing director, and Luke Hutchinson promoted to chief operating officer. Richard Smith remains Melbourne managing director.
