Celebrity Splash ratings sink on second outing but still beat Apprentice

The big difference for Apprentice this year is that it’s not in the 7pm slot. It’s up against Packed To The Rafters and starting at 8:40pm. This kind of scattered programming is their own downfall and they just won’t learn.

When you code an eviction or winner segment as a different show it often works out that the ratings are higher for that segment, however Celeb Apprentice being coded as 2 programs has appeared to backfire for Nine, shedding 58,000 viewers. Did The Voice over-run and inflate the 866,000 figure or was it so boring no-one stuck with it?

1.315m viewers want to watch random “celebs” jump into a pool? seriously?
I have fairly low expectations of people’s standards, but this has me blown away…

My sentiments exactly EMC. And imagine what the viewer figures would have been like if this was running on Network Ten?? We’re an interesting TV viewing bunch!

I hate to bring up this old chestnut again, but can we please remind ourselves that these figures are extrapolated from a total Australian survey of only 3,500 metro households (or 5,635 total households including regional Australia). Source: http://www.oztam.com.au/theoztampanel.aspx
I long for the day when reported stories state the base (real) number of households watching and then if warranted the estimated viewers. Because I too find it crazy that over 1,000,000 people would actually watch that show.

I fell asleep watching Celeb App. You would have thought a season opening ep would have attracted over a million viewers! These two statements-
Celebrity Splash saw its ratings fade,
despite inheriting a big audience from The Voice which rated 2.024m, Nine’s The Celebrity Apprentice made a debut of 866,000
shows that people here are not interested in “celebrities”.

Janine- it is an old chestnut but bear in mind that 3500 are representative of the tv watching public. More houses are being sampled now than when Neilsen was doing the ratings. In the US where there are 99 million tv viewers they only sample 5000 tv households. You have to admit we have a bigger sample size.

Agree with you Janine, but it’s all we have! Just like with any statistic, nothing is gospel, I think most of us professionals keep that in mind when looking at audience data..
