Chairman and CSO Ian Rumsby departs Weber Shandwick
Ian Rumsby, the chief strategy officer of Weber Shandwick Asia Pacific and chairman of the agency in Australia, is stepping down from his roles with the business.
Rumsby told Mumbrella his 19 years with the business had been “the adventure of a lifetime”.
“My journey with this firm really has been the adventure of a lifetime and I shall miss it, and the many friends I have made along the way, deeply,” he said.
“When I joined Weber Shandwick – at its genesis in 2001 – I never imagined it would give me so much opportunity, nor that it would become the backdrop to such an important part of my life.
“For years my children knew of only two companies in the world, Weber Shandwick and Qantas. They assumed that everyone worth knowing worked for them. I still believe that the best people do.”
Rumsby was the executive vice president of strategic development for Weber Shandwick in Asia Pacific between 2007 and 2010, before taking on the additional role as Australian chairman. In 2012, his work in the strategy side of the business was expanded when he became Asia Pacific CSO.
Asia Pacific CEO, Baxter Jolly, described Rumsby’s career as illustrious.
“Confirming that after an illustrious 20 years, Ian Rumsby will be leaving Weber Shandwick. We wish him all the success in his next chapter,” Jolly commented to Mumbrella.
Rumsby announced his departure on LinkedIn, writing now was the time to ‘pause for a moment’, before his “next adventure will begin later this year”.
An absolute gentleman. Ian, looking forward to hearing what’s next…
