Chandon puts F1 drivers at wheel of toy cars in latest campaign

Australian-based sparkling wine Chandon has ramped up its second year sponsoring the McLaren Formula 1 team putting the team’s drivers at the wheel of toy cars.

Alonso and Vandoorne star in Chandon’s latest F1-themed ad

The campaign launched over the weekend with McLaren’s Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne declining a glass of Chandon as they head to a race, only to discover they are driving remote control cars.

The race then unfolds on  a track through the Chandon vineyards before the cars are then snatched up by drones which are piloted by the drivers using virtual reality headsets before returning to the track and the cars then launching across the table of a group of surprised diners.

The work finishes with the line “Share the Spark” which prompts people to celebrate spontaneous moments.

Ashley Powell, Chandon’s marketing and business development director, said the ad was a great way to kick off the second year of the sponsorship.

“We are thrilled to be working alongside McLaren-Honda again and kick off the new season in style,” Powell said.

“The content we created last year put Chandon on the global stage so we wanted to emulate that, to bring the Chandon story to life. It was fantastic to have Stoffel on board and work with Fernando again to create a piece that we are confident will generate excitement and encourage fans to ‘Enjoy the Spark’ of Chandon.”

The work, created by the Havas Village, is part of a broader influencer camapign created by the agency.
