Cirrus Media sells off architecture and design portfolio to IMAP

Cirrus Media has sold off its architecture, design and building division, including the division’s flagship title Architecture & Design online, to Indesign Media Asia Pacific.

Speaking to Mumbrella, Raj Nandan, CEO and publisher of IMAP, said the division will run independently from IMAP’s existing architecture and design vertical.

“We’ve always focused on the design-architecture segment and the passionate consumer who is prepared to invest in design and architecture. We’ve created a platform for that vertical in the region and we have awards in there as well,” he said.

“The Cirrus portfolio is heavily digital and is an adjacent vertical that doesn’t really compete with our current business but has a strong alignment with it. To us it was very natural as far as extending and being more invested in that vertical.”

The Cirrus portfolio of Architecture & Design, product database Infolink, the Sustainability Awards for Australia, event Sustainability Connect – complements IMAP’s portfolio of Indesign Magazine, Habitus Magazine, Design Quarterly and the digital platforms matching the magazines.

Nandan said the publisher has been in discussions with Cirrus since January.

“It wasn’t just an acquisition of the assets, a big part of it was the team and talent working on the portfolio,” he said.

Nandan said the team has taken on board every direct member of the team from Cirrus.
