Clare Bowditch, Tanya Hennessy, Jamila Rizvi, and Rosie Waterland lead campaign on financial abuse

Australian personalities Clare Bowditch, Tanya Hennessy, Jamila Rizvi, and Rosie Waterland are fronting a new social media campaign to raise awareness of financial abuse.

The TALK campaign, a collaboration between Future Women (FW) and CommBank, encourages people to identify the warning signs of financial abuse and engage in supportive conversations with loved ones.

The campaign is part of CommBank’s Next Chapter program, which supports the financial independence of victim-survivors. CommBank is also a proud partner of FW’s podcast, There’s No Place Like Home.

TALK stands for: Trust your instincts, Ask openly and gently, Listen actively, and Know the support available.

Research reveals that over 40% of adults have experienced financial abuse or know someone who has. Additionally, 70% of people say they would turn to friends or family first for help.

FW deputy managing director Jamila Rizv said: “FW and CommBank Next Chapter hope these videos will empower audiences to have safe conversations with friends and family.”

FW managing director Helen McCabe added, “It’s vital we give people the tools to support those they love. We’re grateful to Clare, Tanya, Jamila, and Rosie for helping spread this important message.”

The campaign launches across social media this week.
