Clemenger BBDO Melbourne hires new ECDs Jim Curtis and Ryan Fitzgerald from Droga 5

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has appointed joint executive creative directors Jim Curtis and Ryan Fitzgerald.

The appointments come a week after it was announced that chief creative officer Stephen de Wolf was leaving the agency to become CCO of BBH London.

Fitzgerald and Curtis are the new ECDs at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne

Curtis and Fitzgerald join from Droga 5 in New York, where they both were creative directors. There they worked on the Tourism Australia ‘Return of Dundee’ campaign, as well as campaigns Mailchimp and Under Armour.

Together they have won Titanium at Cannes, yellow pencils at D&AD, and Gold at the Effies, One Show, Sirens, AWARD Awards and Webby awards.

Curtis and Fitzgerald, said in a statement: “We couldn’t be more thankful to the whole team at Droga 5 for an extremely rewarding few years. Having both grown-up in Melbourne, we’re absolutely thrilled to be offered the chance to return home to such an exciting creative opportunity.

“Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has been a leader in the international creative community for many years and we can’t wait to join James, Evan, Richard and the team and get started.”

Clemenger BBDO creative chairman, James McGrath, said: “We are a nation that continues to export some of the best and brightest creative talent the world has to offer, so when the opportunity arises to bring home some of that exceptional talent, we have to jump at it as we’ve done with Jim and Ryan.

“Their work speaks for itself and they truly share our belief that creativity is always the answer. It’s with exceptional talent and creativity that we’ll push the industry forward, and we truly have an unfair share of talent under our roof.”

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has been on a hiring spree of creative talent from overseas. Dal Evans de Almeida and Michael Hughes joined from AMV BBDO London in September. A month later Jacob Gjelstrup Björdal and Jim Nilsson joined from McCann in London.
