Clive’s lovin’ it
With ad bookings as slow as they are, the patron saint of the media is currently Clive Palmer.
Whether in newspapers, on television, or on the radio, Palmer’s United Australia party ads have been hard to miss.
But the outdoor arena provides a particular challenge.
Dr Mumbo has begun to feel quite sorry for the maintenance team responsible for the APN Outdoor (these days owned by JC Decaux) billboard on Abercrombie Street in Sydney.
Virtually every morning demands a new cleanup challenge as vandals become increasingly creative in the adjustments they’ve been making to the bright yellow “Make Australia Great” poster.
Today’s display represents an unusual amount of effort and preparation, presumably requiring a ladder, creation of an Engadine Maccas stencil, along with a colour print of PM Scott Morrison’s face.
For those unfamiliar with the reference to ScoMo and Engadine Maccas, Nine’s youth website Pedestrian has so far provided the most exhaustive investigation into the unusual claim, , although Kiss FM and Triple M have had a go too.
(The answer to the question, Dr Mumbo would surmise, is almost certainly “no”, by the way. It all seems a little, shall we say, Betoota-ish…)
Still, who said that political discourse has gone downhill?
While you’re publishing articles about how News Corp is dangerous to democracy, should be noted that Nine owns Pedestrian.
Literally making up fake news – oh, only News Corp is bad when you live in inner-city Sydney or Melbourne.
