Carsales focuses on the things people aren’t great at in latest campaign

Carsales.com.au is telling its customers “we can’t all be great” in its latest series of ads promoting how it is making buying and selling cars easier.

The campaign by Whybin\TBWA Melbourne features people in a number of tricky situations.

One ad features a young driver struggling to come to terms with a manual car and admitting he will never master hill starts.

Another ad in the series highlights how users can get a full history of the car, as a father contemplates his own car that he has managed to submerge at the beach.

However, the third ad in the series could court attention from road safety advocates with a woman shown about to drive a car stuffed with holiday gear.

“We can’t all be great at packing the car for a road trip,” she says, “At Carsales I can be great at picking the right car for one”.

While the ad never shows the car moving it shows her with camping and boating equipment sitting unsecured in the middle of the car and spilling over the steering wheel and into her vision.

Other passengers are seen pushing surfboards and other gear aside.

A spokesperson for Carsales said the ad had been carefully vetted and had received a CAD broadcast code.

Carsales chief marketing officer Kellie Cordner said the campaign aimed to show how it offers simple solutions for things people didn’t have to be experts at when buying or selling.

“As a brand our focus is on continually building innovative products and services that add value to the consumer experience and this campaign showcases just a few of the latest innovations that deliver on building confidence , trust and ease for all Australians when buying and selling,” Cordner said.
