Consumedia wins Maurice Blackburn media account

Legal firm Maurice Blackburn has appointed independent media agency Consumedia to handle its national media planning and buying, moving the account away from incumbent McCann.

The media agency said it held off competition from McCann, OMD, Carat and Havas to secure the account following a competitive review.

General manager of marketing and communications for the personal injury and compensation lawyers, Toni Wilson, said the company was looking forward to working with Consumedia to deliver successful media campaigns.

“Consumedia presented Maurice Blackburn with a strong and targeted strategy that will allow us to deliver on our commitment of becoming Australia’s leader in social justice law,” Wilson said.

Consumedia’s managing partner Michael Harms said the win demonstrates that size doesn’t matter in media.

“Our team became increasingly invested in their commitment to deliver on Maurice Blackburn’s vision of universal social justice throughout the pitch process, and that’s why we are so excited to partner with them,” he said.

“I am so proud of the team that presented such a strong and compelling strategy, led by William Harms of Half Home Digital, and robust media plan, headed by Marilla Shiel from Consumedia. For us, the win demonstrates that size doesn’t matter, it’s about presenting a strong strategically led partnership.”

Consumedia has partnered with newly formed Half Dome Digital to handle the account.

The joint account win marks the first major victory for digital agency Half Home Digital, which is headed by Tom Frazer and William Harms.

Harms was formerly managing director of Seven Melbourne and partner of George Patterson and boasts over 35 years of media, marketing and sales experience.

In 2013, Vizeum won Maurice Blackburn’s media account.
