Cowan appoints new strategy director

Design company Cowan has appointed Paul Galesloot to the role of strategy director.  

The announcement:

Leading Australian branding and design company Cowan has appointed Paul Galesloot as strategy director to spearhead Cowan’s strategic insights and design trends offering to clients.

In addition to analysing current and predicting future design trends, Galesloot will be responsible for leading their proprietary process that defines brand strategy and visual language called Brand Focus. The Brand Focus process includes two collaborative workshops which allows Cowan to broaden the strategic scope of the client’s brief and align the client and agency regarding the visual language of the brand.

Group managing director, Chris Tremewen said: “Paul comes to Cowan with a great deal of experience in design and strategy and will be a valuable addition to the team. His expertise in FMCG products spans 15 years and will be of immense benefit as we continue to look for ways to help simplify brand choice for consumers in the highly competitive retail environment.”

Galesloot added: “I am very excited about my appointment at Cowan. The position will provide me with the opportunity to analyse and predict consumer and design trends in order to future-proof the designs we develop making our clients’ brands relevant in tomorrow’s world.”

Prior to his role at Cowan, Galesloot worked for advertising and design agencies in account director roles and a general manager role. In these positions he worked on FMCG brands Coca-Cola, Unilever, Nestle, Sanitarium, Sunbeam, Campbell’s, Kimberly-Clarke and SC Johnson.

Galesloot has also worked client side for global sports apparel brand Umbro as marketing manager.

As strategy director for Cowan, Galesloot will work across client projects in both Australia and New Zealand including FMCG accounts including Coca-Cola, Nestle, Heinz, Simplot and Goodman Fielder.

The appointment is effective immediately.
