Cummins&Partners hires Luke Maher as new media boss

Independent agency Cummins&Partners has named Luke Maher as its new head of media.

Maher, who returned to Australia after a four-year stint in the UK, will replace Meredith Ansoul, who had been head of media at the firm since 2021. Mumbrella understands Ansoul will depart at the end of April.

Maher will work across the agency’s media only and integrated accounts, and will be working out of Cummins&Partners’ Melbourne office.

Cummins&Partners said the hire comes amid a period of growth for the agency, with the company combining its creative and media offerings to clients.

“We are thrilled to have Luke join our team at a pivotal time in the agency as we are resetting and strengthening our integrated media and creative offering, in line with our new positioning,” Cummins&Partners national managing director Sophie Lander said.

“Luke’s unique skill set of being able to lead creative and media-integrated clients will be critical to our clients and our team’s success.”

Maher was most recently the UK media lead at WPP Ford from 2021, and also worked at London firms Mindshare and GTB. Before moving to the UK, he worked at the Melbourne offices of Initiative and Maxus Global.

Commenting on his new role, Maher said: “I’m super excited to be joining a Cummins&Partners team that is strengthening their integrated offering at a time when clients are needing it the most.”

“I’ve always been a big believer that creativity is the biggest unlock in media – the problem is the majority of media planners don’t consider the creative at all. I can’t wait to get started.”

Cummins&Partners global chief executive Michael McConville said: “Luke immediately stood out to us as someone who can not only offer innovative thinking in a collaborative and integrated way, but felt like the missing piece to our team as we embed our new positioning and operationalise how we enable and facilitate our clients to ‘Grow Wildly’.”
