Damian Eales elected to lead International News Media Association

News Corp’s Damian Eales has been elected president of the International News Media Association.

Eales: Honoured to be INMA president

Eales – who is chief operating officer of News Corp’s publishing operations – has been on the board of INMA since 2014 and its vice president for the last two years.

“It is a real honour to be elected to this role at an inflexion point in the prospects for news media all around the world,” Eales said in a statement.

“The best news media businesses have weathered the storm of digital disruption and are now exploiting digital capabilities to power growth, engagement and grow new capabilities.

In addition, Chris Janz, MD of Publishing at Nine has been elected to the INMA board.

The announcement was made at the INMA World Congress of News Media in New York.

At the event, News Corp was among the Australian companies recognised at INMA’s Global Media Awards, winning first prize for its data analytics plAtform Verity, which allows the company to analyse what types of content drive subscriptions.
