Dan Johns promoted to IPG Mediabrands’ COO; CFO Reg Davidson moves to regional role
Dan Johns has been promoted to chief operating officer of IPG Mediabrands in Australia at the same time the company elevated its chief financial officer Reg Davidson to a regional role.
Johns is a former CEO of Ikon Communications who has been commercial director of the holding group for the past two-and-half years, while Davidson has been with the group for the past 13 years (and was a key player in former Australian CEO – now global Mediabrands CEO – Henry Tajer’s strategy of building out the group’s business model across various businesses such as Mnet and Ensemble).
“Dan now has direct oversight of group operations and new product development,” said Danny Bass, CEO of IPG Mediabrands Australia, in a statement. “He will also play a major role in driving further collaboration across the group and retains his responsibilities across our programmatic business Cadreon and social media agency Society.”
Supporting Johns in the COO role will be Kerry Boys who has been appointed strategic operations director and Hugo Cutrone who has been appointed business operations director.
Dan Johns said: “I am looking forward to implementing many new initiatives at Mediabrands and working with Kerry and Hugo. Their appointments reflect the depth of talent we have in the group to support our continuing evolution.”
The changes come at a time when IPG Mediabrands is currently defending its biggest client, Wesfarmers, which is currently pitching its supermarkets, Target and alcohol business.

@roger. I’m not sure how becoming the CFO of APAC is a sideways move? Pretty sure APAC includes Australia and a dozen other countries?
