Bass will report into Snap’s general manager Asia Pacific, Kathryn Carter.

Since leaving IPG Mediabrands, Bass has remained a board member of the Media Federation Australia, been appointed chair of the industry’s social purpose organisation, UnLtd, and co-founded a corporate and wellness retreat, Berry Hill Farm.

Prior to IPG Mediabrands, he was chief investment and intelligence officer at Group M.

Carter said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Danny to the team. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated his ability to successfully transform teams and businesses. He brings a wealth of expertise, experience and leadership skills, which are aligned with Snap’s values of being kind, smart and creative.

“We’ve been hard at work the last five years helping the market to understand what makes Snap different and unpack the unrivalled potential Snapchat holds for advertisers and partners. We are excited by the momentum behind our business and the opportunity to expand across the region.

Bass added: “I am very happy to be joining the team at Snap at such an exciting time. I am looking forward to building on the great work done by Kathryn and the team as well as supporting her in her new regional role.”

Bass moved to IPG Mediabrands as CEO in 2015, leaving his role as GroupM’s investment director. Just months into the role, Bass installed Melissa Fein from MCN as Initiative’s CEO.

Mark Coad was later announced as Bass’ replacement at IPG Mediabrands.
