David Warren departs BMF to join CHE Proximity as director of brand

BMF group strategy director, David Warren, has departed the agency after five years to join CHE Proximity as director of brand.

Warren’s appointment at CHE Proximity comes as the agency looks to “further bolster its brand strategy capability”.

Whilst at BMF, Warren won five Effie Awards and assisted in the agency winning Effective Agency of the Year twice.

Previously, Warren was a planning director at Saatchi & Saatchi, and senior planner at TBWA. Last year, Warren acted as a lecturer for The Communications Council’s advanced strategic planning course.

David Halter, CHE Proximity chief strategy officer, said: “David is a world-class planner who has impressive experience across all categories. We are lucky to have him and can’t wait to see how his brand expertise can enhance the other capabilities we have, and ultimately get to more creative and effective solutions for our clients.”

Warren said of his appointment: “I feel incredibly privileged to be joining the CHEP team in Melbourne. The agency has built a reputation in continually breaking new ground with work that defines the next era of our industry. I’m thrilled at being given the opportunity to work alongside clients, creatives and strategists of such high calibre.”

CHE Proximity is currently Mumbrella’s Creative Agency of the Year, and boasts clients including Ikea, eBay, Jemena, Flybuys and Aussie.

In May, the agency appointed PwC’s Ben Shepherd as chief media officer.

Warren will be replaced by Thomasine Burnap, who joined BMF in January on a contract as group planning director. Burnap will now be working full time for the agency.
