DDB Sydney recruits TBWA’s Melbourne creative director Tara Ford as ECD

DDB Sydney has created an executive creative director (ECD) role, appointing TBWA Melbourne’s creative director Tara Ford.

Ben Welsh and Ford will work together across DDB Sydney’s clients

The agency said Ford was joining the agency following “amazing growth” off the back of its Virgin Australia account win, and McDonald’s consolidating its whole account with the group

Ben Welsh, chief creative officer at DDB said he’d always wanted to work with Ford, and was looking forward to adding more firepower to the DDB team.

“Tara is a fantastic fit for DDB’s culture. Our focus is on creating a talented and diverse culture, because we know that’s what leads to brilliant creative,” he said.

A release from DDB said Ford had worked with some of the world’s best agencies and networks, creating industry-leading work for brands including Nike, ANZ, PlayStation, Medibank and Nissan.

Ford’s work with ANZ included the award-winning GayTM campaign – which added to her collection of more than 200 awards over her career.

Ford said she was looking forward to a new challenge.

“It has been a wonderful five and a half years at TBWA but I’m ready for a new challenge,” she said.

“I feel incredibly excited and energised to be joining DDB Sydney. It’s a phenomenal agency with both amazing clients and talented people, I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Paul Reardon, CCO of TBWA Melbourne, told Mumbrella: “Tara’s made an amazing contribution to TBWA Melbourne. Yes, we’ll miss her, but it’s hard to be truly sad because this ECD role is such a wonderful opportunity for her.

“Tara won’t be easy to replace. But we’re looking for another CD now, with an announcement made soon.”
