Dentsu Creative’s Ben Coulson departs after less than two years

Dentsu Creative ANZ’s chief creative officer Ben Coulson has left the agency after less than two years.

Kirsty Muddle, CEO of practice and product at Dentsu AUNZ, confirmed his exit in a statement to Mumbrella on Friday.

“Ben has moved on from our team, and we thank him for his contribution and his passion around the craft. We wish him well for what’s next and he remains a good friend of this business,” she said.

Coulson joined Dentsu Creative in September 2023, following a two year stint at Hero. Prior to that, he held chief creative roles at Clemenger BBDO and Y&R (now part of VML).

Under his creative leadership, Dentsu Creative led campaigns for new and existing clients including RMIT University, Nib, and The Iconic.

“The DC crew are great people, and good work is bubbling up across all offices and disciplines. I have learned a lot about what a properly integrated agency can do,” Coulson said.

“Thanks to the whole team for their hard work and support, it really has been a happy home.”

The agency has elevated Brett Colliver, current co-CCO of the New Zealand team alongside Mike Felix, to lead Australian creative in the interim.

Colliver has been with the agency for just over two years, with experience from DDB Group Aotearoa, Colenso BBDO, and Clemenger BBDO under his belt.

Colliver and Felix have done “some notable work whilst they’ve been here at dentsu over that last 24 months, and Brett will step into the creative leadership role for Australia as an interim step,” Muddle said in the statement.
