Department of the Future launches community platform for Box Hill Institute

Department of the Future have launched a community platform for prospective Box Hill Institute students.

The announcement:

Department of the Future has helped Box Hill Institute embrace the new normal and replace the traditional Open Day experiences by creating an interactive digital engagement platform for prospective students across the enrolment journey.

Launching today, the living platform includes virtual experiences and offers users many of the opportunities and services experienced at an on-campus Open Day, such as conversations with staff, workshops and events, and exploring a wide range of career opportunities.

Embracing remote gatherings, digital technology and the ubiquitous real-time engagement of social media, the platform will remain an active and vibrant space long past the traditional Open Day event, allowing users to explore course offerings and career opportunities on their own schedule.

It is an online ecosystem for prospective students and their families and friends to maintain an ongoing connection with Box Hill Institute’s teaching staff, services and other students.

Integrated within the user experience, the platform will also provide insights to Box Hill Institute, giving opportunities to understand prospective students’ interests through tailored interest offerings, and offers the chance to build meaningful conversations with students.

Box Hill Institute’s CEO and Managing Director, Vivienne King, is excited for this innovative, creative virtual experience.

“Prospective students, their parents and friends will be able to direct message and live chat with staff, current students and our different service areas on the day. For example, they can watch a live streamed session about a study area, chat to a teacher about a course, view some of our world-class facilities, and chat to our Skills and Jobs Centres team about job prospects and career opportunities.”

Department of the Future’s Head of Digital, Nick Geronimo, said, “There’s a lot of noise on social media at the moment and everyone’s competing for audience attention on current platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

“But by bringing them over to a community platform that is Box Hill Open Day we’re able to build meaningful conversations to interact and engage directly with prospective students without all the noise.”

Department of The Future’s Managing Director, Ivan Gomez, said, “We’re thrilled about working on this project as it is so unique to the education industry and will allow students to engage as they would normally do on other social media platforms, creating an intuitive experience.”

“Importantly, the data gleaned from this portal will help Box Hill Institute understand more about what’s of interest to prospective students most on Open Day, as they get closer to enrolment and enable it to provide optimised content on that journey.”
