Disney launches new campaign and Make-A-Wish initiative

Disney has launched its 2020 Christmas campaign with a new animated short, and announced a new fundraising initiative with charity partner with Make-A-Wish.

The ‘From Our Family To Yours’ campaign will see the new short film make its way to Disney+ ANZ on Friday, November 13.

Disney will release an animated short for its Christmas campaign

The animated short film is one part of a multi-platform campaign that aims to celebrate family traditions and experiences that connect generations and make lifelong memories via some Disney magic.

It tells the story of a grandmother, her granddaughter and the family traditions that connect them, with a plush Mickey Mouse toy representing with themes of family and nostalgia.

The short animated film is the creation of Disney with New Zealand’s Flux Animation studios, and the From Our Family To Yours short features UK artist Griff performing title track ‘Love Is A Compass’.

Disney has also announced that as part of its partnership with Make-A-Wish, fans will be able to purchase their own vintage plush Mickey toy, with 25% of profits going to the charity.

Kylie Watson-Wheeler, senior vice president & managing director of The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand, said the campaign aims to inspire people to create meaningful memories this Christmas.

“We are delighted to share our beautiful Christmas campaign From our Family to Yours and are proud to partner with Make-A-Wish here in Australia and New Zealand.

“The story of Lola and her family is certainly heart-warming and we hope it inspires people to create meaningful memories with their families this Christmas – something that has never been more relevant than in 2020.”

Disney has a long-standing relationship with Make-A-Wish, and in addition to the sales from the plush toy, Disney will donate US$1 for every memory shared by fans on the hashtag #LoveFromDisney across Facebook, Instagram or Twitter (up to $100,000).

Make-A-wish Australia CEO Sally Bateman said: “We are incredibly grateful to Disney, for their ongoing support and help in bringing much-needed hope and happiness to wish kids and their families.

“With more than 800 wish kids counting on us right now, this vital support will help us give the brightest of days to families in their time of need,” she said.

The campaign is being supported across the network of The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand, with key retail partners both in-store and online and live event sponsorships, as well as products and experiences.
