Disney releases 2021 Christmas campaign in partnership with Make-A-Wish

Following on from its 2020 Christmas campaign, Disney has launched its second Christmas campaign ‘From Our Family To Yours’, an animated short of over three minutes, titled ‘The Stepdad’.

The film was made by Disney in partnership with its global charity partner Make-A-Wish as well as Flux Animation Studios in New Zealand.

The short tells the story of a stepfather joining a family with a mother, two kids and a dog, celebrating the holidays together. The film contains multiple Easter Eggs from Disney IP, including Star Wars, Black Panther and Mickey Mouse Ears, which are hidden throughout.

The short includes artwork from 13-year-old Dylan from the UK, which fulfils his wish to be an animator from Make-A-Wish.

The Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand senior vice president and managing director Kylie Watson-Wheeler said: “This year’s beautiful campaign truly encompasses the importance of family togetherness, and we hope it inspires people to create their own special memories through the magic of storytelling this Christmas.”

Make-A-Wish Australia CEO Sally Bateman commented: “We’ve all had a glimpse of what it feels like to wait for hope this year. Helping sick kids find hope is something we all have the power to do.

“We’re thrilled to once again be the beneficiaries of ‘From Our Family To Yours’, Disney’s unwavering support continues to make incredible wishes come true for children with critical illnesses.”

Part of the campaign is the “Gift A Wish” initiative, which allows donations to Make-A-Wish.

The campaign premiered today, 3 November, on The Walt Disney locally-owned channels, and via retail partner Big W.
