A new partnership has been set up with leading Australian promoter Chugg Entertainment to create live shows and events from popular television brands.

Australian-based TV Touring Pty Ltd has established a joint venture with Chugg Entertainment to develop TV brands into live shows for local and international markets. TV Touring is headed up by director Tara King and new director, Dean Buchanan.

“TV Touring is about creating unique live experiences that engage audiences with the TV brand. We develop ways to take the television experience off the box and to a live audience – be that arena shows, exhibitions or theatre performances,” Mrs King said.

“The public’s passion for live entertainment is just getting bigger and with more TV channels than ever and people watching TV on the internet, the opportunity for the TV brand to connect with people in the live arena makes total sense,” Michael Chugg said.

Last year, Chugg Entertainment and Tara King collaborated to develop, produce and promote international dog expert Cesar Millan’s live show. Cesar Millan has had sell-out shows in Australia, the UK, Canada and is touring Europe in May. He will return to Australia and New Zealand in November 2011. Tara King and Matthew Lazarus-Hall also created a new live entertainment brand last year with the World Dog Games, which launches to UK audiences later this year. Equally, Chugg Entertainment has had success with other partners on productions such as Tap Dogs and – opening on Broadway recently – Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

CEO of Chugg Entertainment, Matthew Lazarus-Hall, said entertainment comes in all shapes and sizes. “Audiences love getting to see the stars of shows up close and personal. Unlike TV, the great part of live entertainment is that it isn’t perfect, so every show is a unique experience,” he said.

“It was through our success with Cesar Millan and the World Dog Games that we developed the business of identifying and investing in other TV brands,” Mrs King said. “We have new shows in development which will be announced soon.”

Mrs King recently invited media executive Dean Buchanan to join her as a business partner in TV Touring. Dean Buchanan has been creating live content and coaching high profile talent internationally for more than 20 years. Most recently, Dean was group program director responsible for launching dmg Radio Australia’s Nova network. He has also worked as a consultant to broadcasters internationally, assisting them with content, talent and branding strategies.

“Our goal is not only to create shows that audiences will love, but also shows the stars will love delivering. The shows we create deliver great entertainment and also offer advice and tips linking directly to an artist’s philosophies and ideas,” Mr Buchanan said.
