Karl for the $20 note
The Reserve Bank revealed a new $5 note and it’s fair to say people online have been freaking out just a little…
News.com.au described the new note as “vomit-like” and a lot of social media users seemed to agree.
Dr Mumbo also wasn’t surprised to see the social media Photoshop jobs coming outing of the woodwork, with a number of media suggestions in the mix.
Like the other Australian Queen, Dame Edna, complete with iconic meat pies:
Or former cricketer-turned-I’m-A-Celebrity star, Shane Warne:
The Voice judge Delta Goodrem is certainly Australia’s pop princess:
Our currency has traditionally paid tribute to iconic Australians who have passed away but does that really mean Steve Irwin should be in the mix? And would somebody please check on John Farnham?
And what about former Gold Logie winner and Today Show host/reigning King of Breakfast TV Karl Stefanovic? His face would look rather good on the $20 bill – especially alongside classic Australiana such as the Ettamoggah Pub and a CB radio and bullbar, kitted-out Ford Falcon -wouldn’t it?
However, for Dr Mumbo’s money special credit must go to Lincoln Humphries, who thought to put the one and only Plucka Duck on the $5 note:
An obvious and wonderful tie-in for KFC, which is currently using Plucka in its advertising, but Dr Mumbo worries the RBA won’t be as keen.
Not putting the cash cow on the $5 note is a missed opportunity.
