Dune: Part Two enjoys $9 million opening weekend in Australia

Dune: Part Two has brought in more than $9 million at the Australian box office during its opening weekend.

The film brought in $8.53 million over the weekend, with that tipping over $9 million when including preview screenings with the original in a double-feature, the night before release.

In second place this week is Bob Marley biopic One Love which brought in $586,000 over the weekend, bringing its total box office to $5.69 million after three weeks.

The Collingwood Football Club’s documentary Take the Steps opened in third place, bringing in $430,000.

Madam Web, Marvel’s latest, starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney took $365,000, while Eric Bana’s Force of Nature: The Dry 2 took $305,000.

The Dry 2 — which you can hear Eric Bana discuss in Mumbrella’s one-on-one podcast — has so far brought in $6.56 million in Australia since release.

Elsewhere this weekend, Malayalam film Manjummel Boys brought in $255,000, horror Baghead brought in $203,000 in its second week – with a total $706,000 to date, and anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – To The Hashira Training took $197,000.
