Early finish to cricket boosts X Factor and local dramas

Channel Seven saw an increase in viewers last night with the early finish to the first test on Nine helping to grow audiences for both The Secret Daughter and The X Factor.

The X Factor managed 732,000 viewers last night for the live elimination in the 7.30 time slot, after managing just 603,000 last week, as the early finish to the cricket on Nine saw it play a repeat of The Block in the same slot.

The Secret Daughter was the top non-news program overall last night gaining with 795,000 viewers for Seven, according to OzTam overnight metro ratings, up from last week’s 694,000.

It maintained its lead over Nine’s Hyde & Seek, which managed 741,000 viewers, an significant increase on last week’s 576,000 viewers.

Both shows also enjoyed a bump in ratings in time shifting, with Hyde & Seek managing 199,000 more viewers over the period and Secret Daughter 181,000 more.

Ten also saw Have You Been Paying Attention gain momentum from last week’s 576,000 viewers to 687,000 overnight, and also topping all of the major ad demographics.

Nine lost out to Seven in primary channel share with 18.2% compared to 20.5%, while Ten languished behind the ABC on 13.1% compared to 15%.

Seven News was the top rating program of the night with 1.008m at 6:30pm and 1m, flat, at 6:00pm, while Nine News managed 890,000 at 6:00pm and 885,000 at 6:30pm.
