Ebay restructures communications team aligning it with PayPal

Ebay’s head of communications Sandy Culkoff has left the organisation in a restructure that brought together communications for Ebay and PayPal.

Culkoff, who was head of corporate communications at the ABC for over eight years before she joined Ebay in September 2011, is understood to have taken time off to go traveling following the restructure in March.

Her departure followed the appointment of former PayPal head of marketing in the Asia-Pacific region Steve Brennan as director of marketing and advertising sales for Ebay, replacing David Odgers.

Adrian Christie is now head of communications for Ebay Incorporated, which includes responsibility for PayPal’s communications and ecommerce software platform Magento.

The communications team is then divided into employee and consumer communications with Jo Salman employee communications manager for Ebay Incorporated, and Amber Morris senior consumer communications manager.

Meanwhile Megan English is communications manager for Ebay and Emily Birks is communications manager at PayPal.

A spokesman for Ebay Inc said in a statement: “The eBay Inc businesses (eBay, PayPal, Magento) are focussed on delivering platforms and technologies to seamlessly connect retailers and consumers. It became clear that the best way to support our stakeholders during a period of rapid change in e-commerce would be to combine the forces of both the eBay and PayPal communications teams.

“Together we have transformed our communications approach – with a focus on branded entertainment, curated content, social channels and a publisher mind set to deepen our engagement with all of the Australians who rely on our technologies to grow their businesses or to get their hands on the widest selection of products available.

“The team is made up of five senior members with more than 55 years experience between them.”

Ebay Australia and New Zealand got a new boss in July – vice president and leader of Ebay’s Korea businesses Joorman Park. Park replaced Deborah Sharkey who heads Ebay’s global headquarters in San Jose, California.
