Ex-News Corp journalist launches sustainability comms agency

Founded by former News Corp journalist, Jenny Ringland, G+S Communications is the latest sustainability-focused communications agency to hit the market.

Named in reference to Green + Simple – a lifestyle publication founded by Ringland and ex-News Corp and Bauer journalist, Erica Watson, in 2018 – G+S Communications’ mission is to offer specialised comms and advisory services to businesses wanting to improve their sustainability efforts.

The agency’s services include copywriting and content writing, brand building, legislation advisory, climate reporting, PR, corporate communications, and sustainability report writing.

With industries such as the out-of-home sector interested and eager to make their operations more environmentally friendly, Ringland acknowledged that achieving such a feat can be challenging – but that’s where G+S Comms comes in.

“What we know is that regulation relating to climate is coming. We also know that communicating complex topics requires strategic thinking and a skillset to distil technical information simply and accurately, which is what we specialise in,” said Ringland.

“What we are doing is meeting every business where they are. There is no one size fits all approach when it comes to climate, and the same goes for communications.

“It’s a journey that is nuanced and individualised, and as soon as we can recognise that, the sooner we can work together to transition to a net zero, nature resilient tomorrow.”

Prior to embracing the title of agency owner, Ringland’s LinkedIn states that she worked as a sustainability communications director for comms consultancy, Wilkinson Butler. Before that, she was head of content at WelleCo as well as a freelance journalist and editor, contributing to publications such as Marie Claire Australia, body+soul, The Daily Mail and more.

Her career at News Corp began in March 2007 as a senior features writer, before ending in March of 2015 as a lifestyle editor.

Ringland also serves as a member of the Board of Directors for investment company, trampoline., and is an advisory board member for the Environmental Music Prize – an initaitive dedicated to promoting environmental protection through music.
