The Biggest Loser drops to lowest ratings as MKR cook-off wins more than 1.6m
The nail-biting cook-off on My Kitchen Rules and elimination of contestants Harry Curtis and Christo Gibson rated 1.664m last night giving Channel Seven the most popular show of the night, followed closely by The Block with more than 1.3m.
However, Channel Ten saw its ratings drop for The Biggest Loser to its lowest yet this series, with just 307,000 watching in the same 7.30pm timeslot, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.
The Biggest Loser was 32nd in all programs and 26th in people 25-54. Ten launched a print ad campaign for the show yesterday, in an effort to boost poor ratings.
Meanwhile MKR was also the top show in people 25-54, and The Block, which had 1.302m total viewers was second in that category. Winners and Losers followed MKR on Seven at 8.45pm with 968,000, up by more than 100,000 viewers on last week and the Seven drama was also the most watched show in catch-up viewing with 156,000 more viewers, bringing its total audience for last Tuesday’s first episode to over 1m throughout the week, with 172,000 time shifting the second show straight after, which last night retained 860,000 viewers.
However Nine won the first half hour of the timeslot with 1.185m for a new episode of the Big Bang Theory at 8.45pm, although its audience dropped to 900,000 for a repeat at 9.10pm.
In subscription television, Fox8 launched its heavily-trailed new model search reality show The Face with Naomi Campbell to 40,000 viewers at 9pm, ranking 18th in all pay-TV programs. In comparison, Australia’s Next Top Model averaged over 100,000 in its lastest series last year.
In the evening news battle Nine News was the most popular in all people and in 25-54s with 1.165m for the first half hour and 1.1094m for the second from 6.30pm to 7pm. Meanwhile Seven had 1.074m and 1.012m for Seven News and Today Tonight.
Seven won the night with a 27.8 per cent audience share as Nine had 23.1 per cent. Ten was fourth for the night with a 10.1 per cent share jut behind ABC1 at 11.5 per cent.
