Fairfax Media launches new job site

Fairfax Media has launched a new local employment platform  – Jobs.com.au  

The announcement:

November 24, 2010: Fairfax Media has further strengthened its digital offering and made a strong move into the local employment market by this week launching a brand new multi-channel brand, Jobs.com.au.

Jobs.com.au is aligned with Fairfax Media’s local mastheads which represent the largest integrated rural and regional, print and online digital media in the country.

“Jobs.com.au is designed to be the biggest ‘go to’ local employment brand and deliver a cost-effective and efficient solution for advertisers,” said Fairfax Media General Manager – Key Categories, Tony Blamey.

“Jobs.com.au is a local job specialist brand like no other. It is connected to communities through our local mastheads so will have the trust and reach of Fairfax Media.”

The arrival of Jobs.com.au follows extensive research by Fairfax that identified an opportunity for a highly targeted and relevant local employment site that could fill a gap in the market.

Jobs.com.au will complement Fairfax Media’s existing employment brand, MyCareer. The strategy behind the approach sees more targeted and relevant media properties for advertisers – both national and local – to deliver the best results.

It is the latest innovation by Fairfax Media in the employment category, with the recently launched MyCareer iPhone app already securing over 100,000 downloads.
