The Ferals are Revolting (on social media)
It seems this morning’s headline in Sydney’s Daily Telegraph is something of a self-fulfilling prophecy.
The News Corp paper led with the headline The Ferals are Revolting over the weekend’s March in May protest which saw thousands of people gather in cities across the country to protest against the Federal Government’s 2014 budget, where 13 people were arrested.
However, it transpires many of the ‘ferals’ aren’t too happy with being described in such a way, and being the protesty types they are, have vented their displeasure on social media:
A collection of reactions from Twitter:
The only Ferals I know are all in the Liberal Party slicing Australian community into pieces. People believed the crap that was written in Telegraph and all other Murdoch Media and now Aussies have the Govt they deserve. The majority voted them in because they believed Murdoch’s propaganda from ALL of his Media outlets. Now they get offended because they are called Feral? Until the people of Australia UNITE regardless of where you stand on the political spectrum the large Multi – Nationals are going to plunder this nation. Politics has never been so dishonest so evil since democracy first appeared in Ancient Athens. The only way to clean up Politics is make harsher penalties for lying, dishonest politicians, like lengthy jail terms. Stop ALL Corporate donations to Political parties, and introduce RICO type laws in Australia so Politicians can be charged with Conspiracy to Defraud the public, ala introducing $7.00 Medicare Fees only to give it to Amgen Abbott’s sponsor on his cycling shirt.

This is what we’ll be left with after they cripple the ABC.
Stop buying this American billionaire’s self-serving propaganda before it’s too late.

This was a truly repugnant headline, designed PURELY to distract from the real issue of plunging poll ratings for the Coalition. Everyone knows News Corp is the propaganda arm of the Liberal’s, as proven by the fact the front page doesn’t even mention the shocking poll results. Nice try Murdoch…

FWIW, the Malaysian newspapers ran similar articles against the public (in favour of the government they were propping up) and after the most recent election the circulation declined by 1/3.

News Corporation is not the propaganda arm of the Liberals.
It’s simply business.
Rupert had two major reasons to take revenge on the Labor government:
1) The media reforms Labor were trying to bring in to increase integrity in Australia’s media
2) Labor ensuring that the contract for the Australia network was given to the Australian public broadcasting commission, ABC, instead of the Murdoch controller empire, Sky.
Murdoch support for the Liberals began from a position of spite. Let us not forget it hasn’t always quite been this way, he did back Rudd in 2007, so he’s not always Liberal party aligned, he swaps sides based on when it suits him best.
The incoming Liberal government has returned the favour to Murdoch since he deceived the Australian public into voting for them:
1) They have allowed for Rupert to burn a massive hole in the Australian budget and allow Rupert to receive some $900 million for some dodgy paper shuffling.
2) They’ve shut down the NBN project and scaled it back to something that won’t be viable for any streaming content service to compete with Foxtel.
3) They’re about to introduce a level of Internet Censorship that will try and block Australian Internet users from torrent sites in the hope they will be pushed to Foxtel subscriptions.
Rupert’s a smart man, there is no doubt he knows Abbott is a complete idiot who leaves a trail of destruction in his path, but he’s an easy puppet that that’s all Rupert needs.

au contraire i think it was a nice balance to the barrage of Green Left Weekly propaganda spewing from Fairfax since last Tuesday
by the number of “pensioners/students/disabled hit hard” stories, you’d swear that we’re actually paying the welfare beneficiaries for doing something productive
the Budget is about one thing only – how 6 million taxpaying households subsidise everyone else in this country, some of whom are deservedly in-need of a leg-up, or lifetime financial support, like the disabled or chronically ill, but most of whom are getting a free ride on the rest of us

so typical of the DT, feed them lies and make them feel like you’re on their side until the libs win, then turn on them and reveal your true feelings.
The tele doesn’t seem to understand the only ones who buy their paper are those they have just offended. Which is also the reason why we are in this gov debacle in the first place.
And only more moronic will Aussies get seeing as education has headed towards the shi**er.

Lets not forget it’s not just Murdoch running the Government and corporate agenda, its the TERRIBLE TRIO (yes we can all use all hilarious vindictive alliterations like the Tele) – ABBOTT, MURDOCH AND ALAN JONES (SINGLETON). Jones was banging on about it the protestors this morning. I suspect that Abbott, Murdoch editor and Jones all have a conference call each day to work out the next days strategy, headlines and clever one liners.

Absolutely despicable ‘journalism’ from The Telegraph.

As I caught the train this morning and waited a couple of minutes outside the newsstand (they also make coffee), I watched people lean over to pick up the Telegraph, read the headline and then not buy it. They just keep underestimating their audience.

The DT has evidently got a case of the DT’s again. A tawdry piffle that made me laugh out loud at its utter absurdity. Desperate times require desperate measures … and I’m not talking about those who marched yesterday.

Little wonder. Daily Tele did not even have Bill Shorten’s budget reply on front page last week. Some crap about a footy player was page one.
My 13 year old neighbour went to the rally. Bright girl in Govt selective school wanting to do science at uni and contribute to this country’s intellectual muscle AND who could potentially work in the proposed new medical research program.
This little feral has every reason to demonstrate – how can her feral parents who accompanied her possibly pay for her tertiary in this economic climate.

I cancelled my subscription to the Sunday Tele and the Australian last year in the lead up to the election because of the ridiculous articles – can’t even really call it journalism which makes me sad. I agree with the comments that they totally underestimate the intelligence of readers, but it’s not the readers that can make a difference it’s the advertisers that continue to provide ads that prop up ‘editorial’??? pages in the Tele, Sunday Tele etc. They will only take notice when advertisers start to turn their backs, just wondering if this will happen?

@Neville are you the Daily Terror reader? C’mon fess up we know there is one left out there.

Just another reason why the mainstream media and in particular, newspapers are dying
This is NOT journalism, any person writing and subbing such crap deserves all they get.

Neville is actually Tony Abbott, as there’s no one left to run that rubbish about the terrible state we the budget (economy) is in and the emergencies we face unless we cut the bludgers out. Well Neville, how about the corporate bludgers who pay no tax? There’s billions swilling around there? How about the 30 billion lost revenue from Super ‘bludger tax breaks’ ? How about the Chaplains program being cut first – that’s another half billion wasted? If its so dire, how about not cutting the carbon or mining tax first and foremost?

Thank you Mr. Neville Nobody. I was beginning to worry that some right-wing nutbag hadn’t leapt up to voice their disgust at all the left wing propaganda by factually reporting the budget details. It’s good to know that some things just don’t change.

Murdoch propaganda would obviously latch onto anything to warp the truth for their tabloid news. The majority of people in the march were families and everyday citizens. So anyone who dissents against the government is considered feral? Have the politicians considered that they’re acting like capitalist pigs after the budgets been announced?

Ok well why is it any surprise to anyone to know what these Illuminati puppets think of us low people?
Everyone on this fine planet knows that the government, the media, the money owners etc have nothing but CONTEMPT for human kind.
They all believe themselves to be “the enlightened ones”…..enlightened because they all part of an exclusive group.
This group is only for psychopaths who have no soul.
They have one and only one agenda….CREATE AS MUCH HAVOC, FEAR AND DISMAY AS POSSIBLE.
Thier greatest wish…. and they are fervently working to this end, is to create a New World Order where we will be in eternal servitude to them.
They need to depopulate the earth to achieve this end and will choose many ways to do it.
Start looking up at the sky and you will see one way they are killing us, with CHEM TRAILS. These are the unusual white lines that now criss cross our beautiful blue skies that I never saw in my childhood.
People from every country can look up and see them.
David Icke is a champion of the people who discovered this decades ago.
He says it’s called PROBLEM-REACTION-SOLUTION They CREATE the PROBLEM ON PURPOSE and WE REACTIVE IN FEAR AND ASK FOR THE SOLUTION….but it is the solution that is the worst for us.
Thats how dumb they think we are…but we are waking up.
BE AWAKE AND AWARE

Keep wearing the tinfoil hat Irene. Those white things in the sky are condensation trails from jet aircraft. I could give you the scientific explanation for them, but I’m sure you wouldn’t be interested. I suspect you didn’t see them in your childhood because you are of an age such that when you were young, jet aircraft were not quite as ubiquitous as they are now.

No-one can argue that we have to get the budget into order following the GFC blow-out and the collapse in government incomes. There is no emergency but it has to be a priority. But it has to be done fairly.
One wonders why the National Commission of Audit Terms of Reference focused ENTIRELY on expenditure instead of looking at both sides of the ledger which any fiscally responsible Treasurer would have done (though the NCA slipped a few of their pet gripes in as revenue claw-backs despite being out of scope).
But to put some perspective as to priorities I offer the following.
In 2013 there were 128,704,953 GP visits. If all of them (i.e. no caps and no exemptions) attracted the $7 co-payment that is a claw-back of $901m.
Yes that is a BIG amount of money. But how big.
Consider just one very successful and profitable industry sector – banking. I have chosen banking because their financial data is pretty accessible. In the first 6 months of the current financial year the Big Four recorded around $14.5b profit. That’s $558m profit per week. Put another way, in 11 days just those four businesses profit to the full extent of the co-payment.
And as a side note. Remember the 72 JF-35 planes we just have to have at a cost of $12.4b. The banks could pay cash for them in just five months.
So I ask, who is in a better place to do the heavy lifting?

JG – great example and the answer is THE BANKS can afford it. They can be taxed a little more. Call it The Bank Tax and it ‘helps’ pay for the hospitals.

JG – very well expressed. Banks will just threaten to move offshore but I’d call their bluff.

Maybe the whole ‘feral’ thing worked in the 1990s when I would definitely be called a ‘feral’. Does that STILL work now? Really?
Most of us who have thought about the budget in the last few days would have understood the link to the usual plan of hideous stuff in the first budget, then sweet stuff just before the election. It usually works a treat.
Given a view that Australians are ‘dumber’ than most voters in the world (literally mushrooms, on our own island, in a sea of anglo mediocrity and a culture of not-getting-too-full-of-yourself (which is not conducive to entrepreneurialism) this should work and Abbott is in.
Given that, I am not confident that he will be out in three years.
Other than the damage done to the environment and our sub-conscious, most of what they will do to the country can be reversed IF people do vote him out in 3 years (2.6 years I guess). We can restart the NBN, repair the mistakes made up to 2016; shift the uni situation away from the US style of tertiary education; reduce the retirement age back in people’s 60s etc
As much as I would love a DD, I fear that that would scare most anglo Aussies who don’t like anyone rocking the boat, even if the boat is about to eat you…. it probably would backfire, and the support for Abbott would be gigantic, even as he shakes your hand while removing your kidneys at the same time. “owww Mr Abbott, owww, oh but you’re great owwwwww!!! that other mob is unAustrali owwwww!!!!!!!! not stable, so wrong owwwww!!!! etc etc etc” :•\

I think the Daily Terror, like the current government has done a wonderful job showing how completely out of touch they are with the Australian spirit. Yes, as a nation we are pragmatic and submissive, though there comes a point when everyone must draw a line in the sand and says NO!!! this is not fair nor just. This line is being drawn as we speak. The recent massive WIN @ the Bentley blockade has shown that the protection of the GREATER GOOD is not just the role for the ferals …. its everyone’s. How will you draw your line? I’d suggest tracing your money – If you have funds and shares with the major banks you are complicit to crimes against humanity…. Yes JG 14 Billion profit as Oxfam Australia has accused the big four — Commonwealth Bank, Westpac, National Australia Bank and ANZ — of backing companies that have contributed to illegal logging, forced evictions, inadequate compensation, food shortages and child labour….?
Move your money people, its the loudest voice and speaks volumes.

Crew, just to reinforce that the $14.5b profit is for just the first SIX months of this year, which looks like it is higher than any Federal budget annual surplus I can find on record. Matter of fact, I think you only need two of the banks to match our national record surplus.

If Hockey can sue over “Treasurer for Sale” then surely the subjects of these photos can sue over the “Ferals are Revolting” headline?

Do Journalists, like those on the Tele, appreciate and realise that each of these headlines and stories just serves to push their reputation further into the toilet?
Can you imagine a party; pretty girl by herself, dude walks up, introduces himself, adding “I’m a Journalist”.
Girl screams, throws drink in his face, runs away screaming.
Other guests recoil from him, in horror.

i have a different take on it that the people that got called feral should embrace it ..”proud to be a feral ‘ that would totally devalue the negative tele angle …
