Financial Review to see departure of Nabila Ahmed and other senior editors
The Australian Financial Review has finalised its most recent round of redundancies with companies and markets editor Nabila Ahmed among the most high profile of the departures.
Ahmed is also the consulting producer on the AFR’s Channel Nine television program Financial Review Sunday.
The national business newspaper is also seeing a number of other senior departures including editor of the Weekend AFR Chris Short, Jenni Porter the editor of the AFR Magazine, and the departure of both opinion editor Emma Connors and features editor Alison Kahler.
Mumbrella understands Perspective editor Judith Hoare and markets online editor Peter Wells have also been approved to take voluntary redundancy.
Meanwhile the redundancies at business magazine BRW have also been approved with Leo D’Angelo Fischer and Ben Hurley both being approved.
D’Angelo Fischer tweeted yesterday: “‘Exclusive’ (imagine that’s in red): I’m taking a voluntary redundancy package and will be leaving Fairfax at the end of the month.”
BRW last month announced it was closing its weekly print edition. The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age are also currently going through a redundancy round with around 10 positions at each newspaper expected to go.
