Former Dentsu Mitchell boss Kenny Stewart returns to agencies with lead role at OMD
The former national head of media agencies Dentsu Mitchell and Vizeum, Kenny Stewart, has re-emerged as the new group managing director of OMD in Brisbane and WA.
Stewart , who joins OMD next month, spent eight years working for what is now known as the Dentsu Aegis Network, joining in 2008 under Harold Mitchell as business development director.
He moved up to managing director of Mitchells in 2010, before taking control of the agency and sister company Vizeum in 2013 as CEO. Stewart departed earlier this year as part of a wider shake-up at the company.
He joins OMD as the agency searches for a new CEO to replace Peter Horgan, who stepped up to lead the Omnicom Media Group.
Stewart, who will take responsibility for delivering growth in the Brisbane and Perth offices, said: “I’m delighted to be joining OMD and am really looking forward to helping the team build on their considerable recent success.
“It’s especially exciting to be joining an organisation with strong, stable leadership and a huge emphasis on a values-based culture – all crucial ingredients in building and evolving a successful agency business.”
Peter Horgan, CEO OMD Australia and CEO, Omnicom Media Group, Australia & New Zealand said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Kenny. He is a respected, experienced industry senior executive who has built successful businesses in both markets.
“He brings a wealth of industry knowledge, business acumen and proven leadership skills.”
Stewart will be based in Brisbane.
Kenny is a bloody good operator. Well done to both parties!
