Former Publicis and Ogilvy CEO Andrew Baxter joins board of influencer agency

Former Publicis and Ogilvy chief executive Andrew Baxter has joined influencer agency Hypetap as non-executive director.

He will join ex-Havas Media Australia chairman Mike Wilson on the board following his appointment last week.

Baxter has more than 25 years’ experience in marketing and comms

Baxter brings more than 25 years’ marketing and communications experience to Hypetap including nine years in senior roles at Ogilvy and four and a half years as chief executive of Publicis Worldwide Australia.

He quit Publicis in early 2018.

Baxter is currently chairman of Australian Pork, and a non-executive director at GrowthOps, Foresters Financial, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and OzHarvest.

Hypetap founder and chief executive Detch Singh said Baxter will bring “a deep knowledge of the communications landscape, company governance and the influencer marketing category” to the business.

“We look forward to his contribution to our next phase of growth and we’re excited to have him join the board,” Singh said.

Baxter described Hypetap as a “terrific, sustainable and scalable business”.

“I’m looking forward to supporting them as they continue to grow,” the agency veteran said.
