Former Twitter Australia managing director Karen Stocks returns to Google

Karen Stocks, former managing director of Twitter in Australia who joined the social media platform from Google, is set to return to her former employer as Google’s global director of measurement solutions based in the US.

Stocks departed Twitter in November last year

Stocks, who began her career at Vodafone where she rose to become general manager of service strategy, first joined Google in 2007 as online sales and operations manager before being named director of products and solutions.

Speaking about her decision to rejoin Google after three years at the helm of Twitter’s Australian operations, Stocks said the new role would offer fresh challenges.

“I’m delighted to join Google once again to take on this new role focused on our measurement efforts,” Stocks said.

“Measurement is a key industry topic, both locally and globally, and I look forward to making a contribution in this space.”

Stocks joined Twitter in 2013 as the company’s first Australian MD nine months after its launch into the Australian market.

After three years in the role Stocks announced her departure from Twitter in October last year, appointing current MD Suzy Nicoletti as her replacement.

The newly appointed Google executive will be based in the US but will continue her role on the board of directors of Netball Australia which she joined in 2015.
