Former Vodafone chief marketing officer Kim Clarke has joined Energy Australia in the role of chief customer officer, Mumbrella can reveal.

Clarke left the telco last November after two years heading up its marketing.

She joined the energy firm in June with responsibility for sales and marketing activities and attracting and retaining home and business customers.

The company’s previous chief marketer David Hamilton left the company in November of last year.

Energy Australia said Clarke’s remit extends to “ensuring the business is connected to the customer” by drawing on customer insight and feedback. She will also lead its product and services program, pricing and campaigns.

“The energy sector is going through a period of significant change driven by technology and retail innovations and consumer interests,” Clarke said. “EnergyAustralia is in a unique position to lead this change, and I’m proud to be part of the team which will aim to do just this.”

“The strategy at EnergyAustralia is clear; what the customer values most will drive our activities and we will work tirelessly to deliver to these.”

Clarke’s appointment comes as Energy Australia continues with its recently-introduced owl-themed marketing in a campaign from Leo Burnett which urges consumers to make ‘wise calls’.

A series of ads have been created with depict owls as call centre staff who proffer advice when customers’ phone the company.
