The current Facebook hoax doing the rounds is this one:
I’M SORRY TO HAVE TO SEND THIS! Facebook is recently becoming very overpopulated, there have been many members complaining that Facebook is becoming very slow. Records show that the reason is that there are too many non-active Facebook members and, on the other side, too many new Facebook members.
We will be sending this message around to see if members are active or not. If you are active please send to at least 15 other users using Copy Paste to show that you are still active. Those who do not send this message within 2 weeks will be deleted without hesitation to create more space.
Send this message to all your friends and to show me that your still active and you will not be deleted.

Dr Mumbo has been quite surprised at the supposedly bright media types who have been falling for the hoax and forwarding the message.
Surely this wouldn’t be the Digerati Gen Yers … the digital natives … who fell for this.
Next time I hear one of them complain that I don’t understand digital I think I will plitely point out that it was my generation that invented the microcumputer, the mouse, the modem, the Internet, the WorldWide Web, broadband, graphical computing … where do I stop … so how the hell could we understand it when we’re too busy creating it! (And by the way, we also put man on the moon … so, still waiting – a Mentos in a Pepsi bottle just doesn’t quite stack up)
