Foxtel Media enters into CTV partnership with LG Ads

Foxtel Media will be the exclusive sales agent for LG Ads in Australia, as part of a new Connected TV partnership bringing ad solutions across LG Smart televisions.

Foxtel Media will deliver interactive, native display advertising assets across LG devices, with targeting available across demographic, geographic, and behavioural attributes such as purchasing habits, viewing habits and device usage.

Through the partnership, brands will be able to buy across native ad unites including LG Home Launcher banner, wedge ad units, hero ads, and content store tiles.

Brands can also take over ad units in 6,12 or 24-hour time blocks and can be used to click through to a video, website (within the LG browser), or a CTV app.

LG Ads president, Serge Matta, said: “We are excited to be entering the Australian advertising arena with a heavy-weight contender like Foxtel Media. The Foxtel Media team have had tremendous success with CTV advertising, and we are eager to advance the ecosystem further and watch the innovation and creativity unfold.”

As mentioned, brands will be able to target by demographic, geographic or behavioural attributes, plus access to actionable measurements and closed-loop attribution to more quickly understand their ad spend with rapid reporting.

Foxtel Media executive director of agency sales, Nev Hasan, said: “Our new CTV partnership officially kicks off in September with our first Foxtel Media campaigns appearing on Aussie LG Smart TVs across the country.

“While Foxtel Media have offered CTV advertising opportunities before, we are delighted to be teaming up with a true powerhouse like LG Ads to bring them to life. We will be able to leverage their global experience and learnings to deliver the premium offerings that Australian brands have come to expect from us.”

Earlier this month, AT&T’s Xandr’s premium video marketplace expanded to include content from Australian broadcasters Nine, SBS, Seven, Ten and Foxtel.

Late last year Samsung launched its TV Plus in Australia, a free TV streaming service that allows owners of Samsung Smart TVs, models 2018-2020 and later to access a number of international channels free of charge. The service is funded by advertisements across the platform, managed in-house by Samsung Ads. The team recently added three new senior members following  Alex Spurzem’s appointment as general manager in July 2020.
