FSM VFX expands 3D team

Post production company FSM VFX has expanded its 3D team, with lead matte painter and animator Andy Sutton and technical director guru Chris Gardner joining the new Head of 3D, Andreas Wanda.

The announcement:

Sydney-based FSM VFX has expanded its 3D team with some cracker talent. Joining the new Head of 3D, Andreas Wanda, are lead matte painter and animator Andy Sutton (ex-Fuel and Animal) and technical director guru Chris Gardner (ex-Fuel). Along with a host of commercials their film credits include Legend of the Guardians, Iron Man 2, Captain America, Knowing, Stealth and Australia.

The new 3D team has recently completed campaigns for Landrover Freelander 2, Diet Coke and Red Cross.

“3D is an increasingly competitive market so we’ve worked with Andreas to attract some top talent. These guys join our current creative team having already produced exceptional quality work,” said managing director Rick Schweikert.

“The recent campaigns we’ve created for Diet Coke, Red Cross and the Landrover Freelander 2 showcase the VFX team’s ability to bring ideas to life in 3D for some world-leading brands.”

“The Freelander campaign was born from an ongoing relationship with the agency. Working in collaboration with the CD to concept various scenarios, we pitched a 3D spot to run alongside their current marketing strategies. The result was a fresh, clean and stylish commercial.” said head of production, Dean Sutherland.

Andreas Wanda said: “The Freelander 2 spot had a challenging timeline but the creative freedom the agency allowed us certainly is testament to their confidence in our work and the passion of the new team.”

“In the past year we’ve landed five character animation spots. The stand out for us was Diet Coke’s ‘Little Marionettes’ campaign. It was originally created for the Nine Network’s Farmer Wants a Wife, but the company was so happy with the work they continued to air it. Most recently, ‘Little Marionettes’ was re-worked and shown regularly throughout Masterchef.”

FSM’s 3D team is currently working on some major VFX for the Australian feature film, Goddess.
