The announcement:

One of Australia’s fastest growing media organisations Go Transit Media Group will commence operating in Darwin after winning a major bus contract with the Northern Territory Department of Transport.

Go Transit is Australia’s largest privately owned bus advertising business and operates in more than 85 regional markets across Australia’s eastern seaboard. The company is headed by former radio executives Rob Gamble and Rick Chapman and majority owned by Associated Media Investments.

Go Transit’s Head of National Sales Paula Hay said the Northern Territory Department of Transport Contract covers nearly 150 urban and school bus routes throughout Darwin and provides national advertising clients with a unique opportunity to reach a potential audience of over 120,000 people.

“There is no real form of large transit outdoor advertising available in Darwin so we can provide the opportunity to promote businesses and services in the form of a large mobile billboard on a daily basis throughout Darwin.

“In almost all of the 85 markets we operate in we compete with large outdoor, bus stops and other forms of advertising on street furniture. There is very few of these options available in Darwin, therefore large transit advertising becomes a significant point of difference for advertisers,” Mrs Hay said.

Go Transit’s Darwin contract will commence on 1 March 2014 with advertising on buses to appear by mid April 2014.
