Patts re-opens its Adelaide office

George Patterson Y&R will return to Adelaide after a six year absence that stretches back to before the purchase of George Patterson by Y&R when both agencies had a presence in the city.

The announcement:

“We’ve been thinking about this for some months. Adelaide is an important and growing market for some of our key clients including Medibank, the AFL and Suncorp. We have also identified local opportunities requiring national business partners, so the timing is absolutely right,” says Y&R Brands CEO Russel Howcroft.

The new GPY&R Adelaide office will be co-located with Y&R Brands stable-mate Blaze Advertising in Kent Town. The office will be headed by Adelaide native, GPY&R national business director Steve Doherty, and staffed locally.

“There’s a great opportunity to offer Adelaide clients access to better thinking, planning and creative that bigger, better resourced agencies can provide. We have key personnel across the country who were born and bred in Adelaide, who still have strong ties and local knowledge of the market,” says Howcroft.

The move heralds a welcome return to the market. Both George Patterson and Y&R were major players in Adelaide for several years, servicing most of SA’s leading accounts. George Patterson Partners sold its business there in 1993. Y&R closed its office in 2004 following the global re-alignment of the Mitsubishi business.

The new office will make George Patterson Y&R the only agency in Australia with representation in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra.
