GPY&R Melbourne wins gold as Australia doubles Media Lions tally on last year

Australia has won a solitary gold in the Media Lions at Cannes – and the winner was an creative agency.

GPY&R Melbourne’s Mobile Medic campaign for Australian Defence Force – which also won a Direct Lion gold – won the only Aussie gold in a year that saw Australian agencies pick up a total of nine Media Lions – up from four last year.

Omnicom media agencies emerged the most heavily awarded from both Australia and New Zealand with OMD’s Sydney and Wellington offices picking up lions for Wrigley, Dulex and Kiwirail.

STW Group’s Ikon Communications also bagged three Media Lions – one silver, two bronzes – for Share a Coke.

The grand prix went to UK media agency Manning Gottlieb OMD for Google Voice Search.
