GPY&R staffer accuses journalist of defaming her over ‘porn posts’ story

One of the GPY&R staffers targeted in a story linking the agency to the Defence Force Skype sex scandal has accused the journalist who wrote the story of misinformation and dragging her reputation through “through a 1950s rectitude filter”.
In a blog posting published today, Tiphereth Gloria fired back at News Ltd’s defence writer Ian McPhedran who broke the original story.
In the story, McPhedran alleged that Gloria’s Tumblr blog “features images of women in compromising situations, pornographic photos and other material”
the truth at last. Ian was the one with something to hide:
the innocent pictures!
LOVE that she referred to ‘a book sold pubicly on Amazon’ when explaining her sex toy post. Extra points for that one.

um. cos it WAS on Amazon? and Amazon IS public? she also expressed disdain in the book – a comment that was also left out of the article.

It seems the original News Ltd story has been taken down from all their sites when I just looked for it? If so, well done Tip!
Still, if News Ltd actually believed in their own stories and Ian McPhedran’s research and reporting (which is questionable anyway in this case), then they would keep them up there in the face of controversy? Hmmmm…….

There’s better reporting on Australian topics in offshore channels, like the guardian and bbc. why are we so lame at reporting our own news to our own people?

What has she done well?
Over the past week, Australia has lost another soldier, hero, in Afghanistan and here you are praising the idiotic behaviour of advertising muppets tasked with doing a serious review into a serious issue within the Defence Force.
Their behaviour whether online of offline is immature and ridiculous when you consider the job they are expected to be undertaking for the ADF.
Dont all ‘digital strategists’ say your online personality reflects your realworld persona? isnt social media meant to be ‘authentic’?
If it is authentic then the behaviour of ‘Tip’ and the other clowns is poor at best.
They should be approaching this job with the respect and sense of dignity it deserves.

the “well done Tip” was me congratulating Tip on defending the gross misrepresentation she received at the hands of an unprofessional hack, that wasn’t apologised for, even though they later retracted the story.
Of course the ADF is involved in very serious work. but I don’t see what Tip did wrong by having a personal life with personal opinions about the world. Tip is always authentic in her Social Media posts, which should be commended in this era of Personal Brand Managers.
Where exactly has she gone wrong? Are you suggesting she should have deleted her personal life for the sake of her client? OIf so, I hardly count that as “authentic”.

Frank: Tip was slandered unfairly; it’s pretty clear once you see the actual blog posts your buddy Ian omitted. She has defended herself well, and now it’s Ian’s turn to look like a dick. FAIR DIBS!
Frank, I think you have a fair point in regards to the ADF and what they do. Its terrible that we have lost yet another soldier in a questionable war, but what we have here is two different issues.
The ADF issue aside, the issue noted on this blog is that a journalist has made accusations against a person and in an effort to get maximum effect to his story, has left out a large amount of context to show a highly unbalanced article.
I would like to think a Journo like Ian would show an even playing field as best he can without stooping to say Tip was freely blogging “porn” and bringing her character into question without showing the reader the reality of the situation.
well said Andy – there was no behavioural wrongdoing on her part, as anyone reading her blog and seeing the ACTUAL pictures can tell.
everyone has a right to defend themselves against allegations that defame their character.
and this particular defence is calm and considered and transparent.

For what it’s worth, people, (I’m, looking at you @anon) stop tagging “community” on the end of everything, as if there were some homogeneous “community:” of SM users.
There is no “gay community”, “Muslim community”, “indigenous community”, nor “social media community”, and addressing a group in such way is disingenuous.
There are, t’is true, Gay people, Muslims, Indigenous persons, and Social media users, but you can’t put describe them as a community as much as people with one commonality. Subtle difference.
