Grant Titmus departs Red Havas after 13 years to launch consultancy

Executive director at Red Havas, Grant Titmus, has left the business after 13 years to launch his own consultancy, Sumit Media.

Titmus joined Red Agency in October 2005, and after it was sold to Euro RSCG – now Havas – that December, he spent five years bringing up the business with founder Neil Travers. In May, Red Agency rebranded to Red Havas.

Throughout his time at Red Havas, Titmus worked across its financial services, technology and corporate affairs sectors as well as issues and crisis communications.

Sumit Media will specialise in corporate affairs and issues and crisis management.

Titmus spoke to Mumbrella about what inspired him to start his own consultancy.

“Over many years a lot of people, particularly staff, would ask me why I haven’t set up my own business but I always felt a loyalty to the two agencies I worked with – firstly Socom and then Red Agency,” Titmus said.

“But my youngest daughter is finishing school this year and I thought if I was ever going to open my own consultancy it would be now. A lot of the new business I generated came from the contacts that I had built up over two decades and I had confidence that if I did open my own consultancy I would be able to “make a go of it” through those contacts.

“Even in the past few days I’ve been amazed at how many former clients and colleagues have been in touch either to wish me the best or to pass on a lead.”

Titmus also said that Sumit Media’s point of different will be years of experience he will bring.

“A lot of my work revolves around issues and crisis management and that only comes with experience so that will be a focus as will strategy and corporate affairs,” he said.

“I also think that a lot of the time agencies promise a lot particularly when it relates to senior people but sometimes they are rarely seen once a client is on boarded. I think many clients want (and expect) senior people to be working on their account and that’s what I will be doing.”

Red Havas CEO, Sarah Trombetta, told Mumbrella: “After more than 10 years with us, Grant decided to leave for a new opportunity and we wish him all the best in his new role.”
